Horwitz is pleased to announce that, effective November 1, 2024, Tempco is now a division of Horwitz, a long-standing mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) specialty contractor. With this change, Horwitz will continue providing clients with building automation system (BAS) services, now with an enhanced focus on customer service, quality, and efficiency under a single, unified brand.
For over 25 years, Tempco has been a trusted provider of temperature controls and building automation system solutions in the Twin Cities. Since its acquisition by Horwitz in 2015, Tempco has partnered with Horwitz and other mechanical contractors to bring BAS expertise to commercial and industrial projects throughout the region. Now, with Tempco’s capabilities fully integrated into Horwitz, clients will benefit from a unified team that delivers comprehensive design, construction, and service solutions, ensuring smoother communication and improved accountability for building owners, contractors, and facility managers.
“When working with Horwitz, whether for building automation services or any of our many offerings, our clients will always receive the same high standard of quality Horwitz is known for,” stated Matt Dekkers, President and CEO of Horwitz.
As part of this restructure, Horwitz is proud to welcome Andrew Lockwood as the new Building Automation Division Manager. With over 16 years of experience in building automation, project management, and system engineering, Andrew brings valuable leadership and expertise to the role. He will oversee engineering, sales, and project management for the division, guiding Horwitz’s continued growth in building automation.
Lockwood’s career includes leadership positions at Great River Automation and Park Nicollet Health Services, along with nine years at Johnson Controls, where he developed expertise in building automation systems. His extensive experience with Johnson Controls, a key vendor for Horwitz, uniquely equips him to mentor and develop the team, enhance capabilities, and drive improved outcomes, ensuring Horwitz continues to bring innovation and leadership to the industry.
In his new role, Lockwood aims to improve internal processes, increase efficiency, and build a robust project management team to better support Horwitz’s existing and growing client base. He is also passionate about fostering collaboration within the team, focusing on professional development and creating a culture of shared success.
“I’m excited to join Horwitz and lead the building automation division. My goal is to strengthen both internal and external relationships, improve customer communication, and bring a fresh perspective to the way we execute projects. We’re not just focused on building systems—we’re building a stronger, more efficient team,” said Lockwood.
